SUNY Purchase to Host Miss New York Pageant

Hundreds of young women from across New York State will take on the campus of SUNY Purchase this weekend, competing for the right to represent the Empire State in the 2012 Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants later this year.

The performances will take place Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Purchase Performing Arts Center. The event will take place in Westchester County this year for the first time in more than 30 years.

Besides offering a new event for interested locals, officials say there are economic benefits for the region as well.
